$10.62 monthly subscription plan also offers free food delivery

Dubai-based ride sharing app Careem has continued its service expansion with the launch of Careem Plus, a subscription service on its super app that offers customers unlimited access to its Careem Bike service for 39 dirhams ($10.62) per month.

The new service, launched this week, will also give customers 10 percent cashback on Careem car rides, five percent cashback on Hala taxi rides, free food delivery from restaurants and shops, and priority care support.

The company launched its super app in June 2020, saying it hoped to provide 80 percent of all services needed by its customers.

“Our super app provides us with the perfect platform to achieve our vision of simplifying lives - offering our community the ability to utilise daily services in a single app,' said Clemence Dutertre, Careem's vice president for customer service.

“The response has been overwhelming, with a massive increase in the number of users who now enjoy using multiple services. This was only a first step.'

He said the Careem Plus subscription enables them to offer 'meaningful value' to their customers, by unlocking big savings across all services, with the average user unlocking monthly savings of over twice the price of subscription.

'As the biggest mover of people and things within the region, we are uniquely positioned to launch a subscription program of such depth and variety, and are excited to reward our customers with significant savings.”

Under the terms and conditions, the maximum cashback payment for a Careem or Hala ride will be 10 dirhams, and free delivery for shops and restaurants applies to orders of 40 dirhams or over.

Careem Bike was launched in 2020, allowing customers to collect a bike from a docking station and use it for a period of 45 minutes at a time.
