Daimler Commercial Vehicles (DCV) Mena FZE has honoured 11 winners of its 'Actros Mileage Millionaire' campaign with the highest mileage of Actros Trucks in UAE, Kuwait, Oman and Saudi Arabia with a combined 16 million km travelled.

The campaign was launched last November to mark the occasion of ‘20 years of Actros’ in the Mena region.

While the total mileage covered was an equivalent of 389 trips around the world or 20 round trips to the moon, the highest record was 2.3 million km without an engine overhaul.

The UAE Central Bank reduced banking sector liquidity for a second consecutive month in August, a move analysts believe signifies an easing of pressure on lenders.

The central bank removed Dh3.1 billion of excess liquidity from the banking system in August, taking the total withdrawals to Dh11.3bn in two months, WAM, the UAE's official news agency reported on Sunday. The bank has pumped Dh31.6bn into the banking system since the beginning of the year.

NMC Health, the UAE-based healthcare operator, has announced that it has received all regulatory approvals for new medical facilities in Saudi Arabia as part of a major expansion into the Gulf kingdom.

The Chronic Care Specialty Medical Centre (CCSMC) in Jeddah is believed to be one of the first greenfield medical facilities in Saudi Arabia to be established by a non-Saudi company.

The 220-bed long-term care facility will launch operations with 50 beds with a phased ramp up planned so the hospital will be at full capacity during the first half of 2019.

Italian sports car manufacturer Ferrari will not be launching electric or autonomous cars, according to chief executive of the Far and Middle East, Dieter Knechtel.

Speaking to Arabian Business at the launch of the brand’s 70th anniversary limited edition models in Dubai, Knechtel said electric and self-driving cars are “not fitting with the brand.”

Costa Coffee has successfully tested its drone delivery service in Dubai.

Following a survey that showed 82 percent of its UAE customers would like to receive drinks or beverages using the technology, the London-based brand undertook a one-day trial of its ‘coffee-copter’ in its Jumeirah Beach Road drive thru store.

Orders were made by phone and delivered to beach-goers with 15 minutes, according to the coffeehouse company.

Dubai International Airport (DXB) saw a record 8.2 million passengers in August – a 6.6 percent increase compared to the same month last year, it said.

DXB’s latest monthly traffic report suggested a seasonal traveller rush that boosted figures to 8,233,311, compared to 7,727,105 last August.

Year-to-date cumulative traffic was also up 6.3 percent from 2016, with 59,353,368 recorded during the first eight months of 2016 compared to 55,851,148.

The Dubai Supreme Council of Energy on Monday announced its Annual Report for 2016 which showed that Dubai saved about seven per cent of electricity and over three per cent of water during the year.

The meeting was headed by Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy, with Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Vice Chairman of Dubai Supreme Council of Energy, also present.

The UAE has announced that it will 'definitely' operate its first of four nuclear reactors in 2018.

'We can say that next year is definitely going to be the year for opening the first nuclear reactor, we are trying to do it as fast as possible, but at the same time we have to be 100 per cent safe, 100 per cent in accordance with all the regulators.'
