Global auto giant Audi has appointed Uwe Hermann, a regional industry veteran as the sales director for the Middle East region.

In his new role, he will lead the sales for the Audi brand across 11 countries, 12 importers and 24 dealer facilities in the GCC and Levant region, said a statement from Audi.

As an automotive professional with extensive international and multicultural experience, Hermann has worked in the Middle East for more than 16 years, it stated.

He joins the brand with the Four Rings from its sister company Porsche, where he was senior regional sales manager.

Azizi Developments, one of the leading private developers in the UAE, has announced a major construction milestone for Azizi Riviera, its flagship Dh12-billion ($3.26 billion) waterfront community project located at Meydan One in Dubai.

Dubai real estate developer Union Properties swung to a second quarter net profit from a year-earlier loss as costs fell and gains on fair valuations of investment properties boosted income.

Net profit attributable to the company’s shareholders for the three months ending June 30 reached Dh24.7 million compared with a Dh2.29 billion loss a year earlier, the company said on Tuesday in a statement to the Dubai Financial Market, where its shares are listed.

Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has endorsed new testing standards for electric, hybrid and self-driving vehicles to ensure that the emirate plays a “pioneering” role in their development and see that they are on the streets of Dubai “in the near future”, it was announced on Monday.

Airbnb is partnering up with Wego to include properties listed on the home-sharing website in the regional online travel platform's search results in a move to offer travellers more accommodation choices.

Etihad Airways said on Tuesday it is operating additional flights between Abu Dhabi and its destinations in Saudi Arabia to facilitate the movement of thousands of pilgrims for Hajj.

Until August 28, Etihad said it will operate special charters to carry pilgrims on its additional flights to Jeddah and Madinah Airport. All flights will operate alongside regular scheduled services.

Dana Gas will follow a strategy of balancing new capex against payments in Egypt as the Sharjah energy-based firm posts a 17 per cent second quarter profit drop due to costs linked to the restructuring of its $700 million sukuk.

Emaar Properties’ net profit rose 18 percent to AED 3.344 billion ($910 million) in the first half of 2018, bolstered by strong growth in its development and malls businesses, it was announced on Tuesday.
