Nissan’s global crossover and SUV sales increased more than 12 per cent in 2017 to more than two million vehicles.

The sales were driven by the all-new Nissan Kicks small crossover, the Rogue, X-Trail and Qashqai compact models, a refreshed Armada full-size SUV and the Infiniti QX30 compact luxury crossover.

Infiniti luxury crossovers and SUVs were up almost 9 per cent in 2017. In total, Nissan increased global crossover and SUV volume by nearly 230,000 vehicles last year.

The Kicks benefited from its first full year of sales in Mexico, Latin America and China, reaching nearly 109,000 sales worldwide. The small crossover will launch this year in the US and Canada and is expected"...

Physicians at Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi have created history in the UAE by developing a comprehensive multi-organ transplant program which is already transforming patients’ lives.

This month, the multi-specialty hospital successfully completed the UAE’s first full liver transplant and first lung transplant, both from deceased donors.

With the pioneering surgeries conducted this month, Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi has till now performed deceased donor transplants for four major organs – kidney, heart, liver and lung. These operations were supported by the Ministry of Health.

Du has announced the availability of limited home internet and TV packages across the UAE, marking the beginning of full competition in the UAE’s telecoms space 11 years after the second operator first launched services.

Construction group ASGC has announced reaching a main milestone on the Harbour Views project by Emaar in Dubai Creek Harbour with the completion of foundation works.

Work to the eighth-floor level was completed on time, achieving 20 percent of overall progress in the construction of the two high-rise residential towers, the company said in a statement.

It said a total of 17,800 cubic metres of concrete were used for the concrete work for the two towers.

Flydubai, Dubai’s low-cost carrier which signed last year an expanded codeshare agreement with sister airline Emirates, reported an 18 per cent rise in net profit as it flew a record number of passengers.

The airline's tie-up with Emirates and a refreshed fleet is expected to continue to drive growth in 2018.

The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has unveiled the initial design of the Hyperloop project which aims to revolutionise travel by cutting the Dubai to Abu Dhabi journey to just 12 minutes.

The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) has asked telecom service providers to start issuing 13-digit digit numbers for SIM based machine-to-machine (M2M) services, which will co-exist with 10-digit numbers.

The DoT had approved the scheme and a letter on it was sent to various departments on February 9, 2018.

M2M services are those where internet-enabled devices like point-of-sale machines or even latest refrigerators communicate through a SIM card. This decision will not have any effect on mobile phone SIMs.

During the meeting, it was decided that 13-digit M2M numbering plan will be implemented from July 1, 2018. From this date onwards, all new M2M mobile connections will be allocated"...
