Expect further rent drops during the summer. However, those of you living in central locations are likely to see rents stabilising by next year while those in secondary locations can see prices softening further. This is as per a market report issued by real estate consultancy Core Savills.

Rents in Dubai continued to soften across the board in the second quarter, with only one exception in Dubailand, possibly due to low entry level rents. 'Tenants are increasingly conscious of current market conditions and many have successfully renegotiated contracts while others have shifted homes, either upgrading to a better unit at a similar or lower rent' says David Godchaux, CEO of Core Savills.

The Emirates-flydubai tie-up will boost Dubai’s burgeoning midmarket hotel industry, hotel chiefs claim.

A combined fleet of wide- and narrow-body aircraft, plus the alignment of frequent flyer loyalty programmes, will serve to attract more tourists to the emirate and help it meet its target of 25 million visitors by 2021.

Dubai port operator DP World has signed an agreement with the Indonesian government to advise on the development of the Kuala Tanjung greenfield port and logistics zone and Belawan port in North Sumatra.

Etihad Airways has emerged as one of around 10 bidders interested in acquiring a partial or full stake in the Italian airline Alitalia, suggesting the Abu Dhabi-based carrier remains committed to its investment in the troubled airline.
