The Israeli occupation authorities started work on a new multipurpose museum project near the western wall of Al-Aqsa Mosque compound on Wednesday, Quds Press has reported. Known to Jews as the “Western (or Wailing) Wall” and to Muslims as the “Buraq Wall”, the museum is being built in East Jerusalem and so has the same illegal status in international law as Israeli settlements scattered all over the occupied city and West Bank.

The government-supervised Museum of Beit HaLiba is said to include cinema screening rooms, a library for tourists, a tourism information centre and a police station.

The Government of Dubai will do away with paper from 2021 onwards, according to the latest strategy unveiled by the emirate’s Crown Prince, Sheikh Hamdan.

The 'Dubai Paperless Strategy' will see all government entities and its customers move away from the need to print or present documents.

Sheikh Hamdan described the strategy as “another milestone in Dubai’s journey towards fully embracing smart technology”.

The UAE government has announced a Dh7 billion ($1.9 billion) housing plan under which 7,200 new residences will be set up for the citizens across all of the emirates within the next three years.

The new plan was adopted at a UAE Cabinet meeting held today (February 4) at the Presidential Palace in Abu Dhabi, under the chairmanship of HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.

Executives from sales and marketing and professionals from legal and finance sectors will likely be the most in demand in the UAE this year with the best salary hikes expected for the professionals in the latter sectors, a new report has said.

'Sales professionals will remain in demand as businesses expand their markets to overcome the local challenging economic conditions. Fintech and manufacturing will remain growth sectors, spurred by government incentives to diversify industries in the region,' Jason Grundy, country head at Robert Walters Middle East, said in a report.

Dubai on Monday announced plans to introduce two new fees related to government services and innovation.

According to state news agency WAM, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, new laws for the Knowledge Dirham Fee and the Innovation Dirham Fee.

The Knowledge Dirham Fee, set at AED10, will be levied on all transactions for government services in Dubai including federal government services whose revenues are allocated to the Public Treasury of the Government of Dubai.

Saudi Arabia plans to build 9 water desalination plants on the Red Sea coastal city of Jeddah, at a total cost of more than SAR 2 billion, said Abdulrahman Alfadley, Minister of Environment, Water and Agriculture.

The minister tweeted that the project to build the plants was ordered by King Salman and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. The plants will have a total capacity of 240,000 cubic meters of water per day.
