The UAE's Telecommunications Regulatory Authority has joined forces with Chinese tech giant, Huawei to open a ‘5G & IoT Joint OpenLab’ in Dubai.

Established in Dubai Media City, the lab will focus on the areas of fifth-generation mobile network technology and the Internet of Things, a TRA official told The National, without divulging further details.

DUBAI, 8th December 2019 (WAM) -- Driverless vehicles are tested on 5G technology ahead of a planned deployment of such vehicles on UAE roads, a top official told the Emirates News Agency, WAM, on Sunday.

'We will expand 5G network to important sectors such as transport, health and education. The Roads and Transport Authority, RTA, has once again maintained its ground-breaking achievement of publishing the 2018 Sustainability Report, compatible with the global standards for sustainability reporting (GRI standards), which merited the RTA the prestige of being the first global roads and transport entity to achieve this billing.
