Dubai-based Melltoo, a peer-to-peer online marketplace that sells used items, said it had collaborated with Volkswagen Middle East for the whole of Ramadan for its novel initiative called #Drive4ACause.

Melltoo helps customers in the UAE sell their used items without the hassle of meeting strangers. By sellers simply listing, a smartphone, laptop, bicycle, or fashion item for sale, the company will find a buyer, pick and deliver the item and get the seller paid.

Toyota Motor will buy a $1 billion stake in Grab in one of the largest investments by a car maker in a ride-hailing provider, underscoring the push by the auto industry to move from manufacturing to services.

SUVs are the most popular models in the UAE’s used car market, making up 45 percent of the sector, according to a report by Dubai-based car online platform CarSwitch.

German prosecutors on Monday widened an emissions cheating probe into Volkswagen's luxury car maker Audi to include the brand's chief executive Rupert Stadler among the suspects accused of fraud and false advertising.
