Joining from Porsche Asia Pacific where he was also managing director in charge of 12 markets, Swedish born Ekberg will be responsible for sales across the Middle East, Levant, Africa (excluding the Maghreb states) and India.
Christer Ekberg has worked a total of 17 years for the Porsche brand, having spent five years as managing director at Porsche in Sweden before joining Porsche Asia Pacific in 2001. His experience in the automotive industry spans more than 30 years in Sales, Marketing and After Sales functions, across North America, Europe and Asia.
Ekberg succeeds George Wills who will take over the lead of Porsche Latin America, as subsidiary responsible for the importer and dealer network in the Caribbean, Central and South America.

The renowned Saudi drift driver Hatim Natto, the driver of “Mountain Dew Saudi Gear Racing Team”, showed his true mettle till the end of the heat as he snapped up the first notch in the 5th round of UAE Drift Championship. Hyundai's year-on-year sales are up 5.9% across the GCC and Levant, with a total of 67,353 vehicles being driven out of showrooms between January and March.
The all-new 2013 Santa Fe, launched towards the end of 2012, is already proving extremely popular, with sales across the GCC and Levant countries up by some 42% on the same period last year. Offering a whole new class of luxury with its differentiated design, cutting-edge technologies and practical use of space, the new model has been well received in a region that appreciates a good SUV, even before the arrival of the 7-seater version later this year.
Hyundai's range of small to mid-sized vehicles, the 'i' series, has also enjoyed strong growth, recording a 40% increase throughout the Gulf and Levant region.
